Lance Armstrong is competing in Tour de France this year for his 8th consecutive yellow jersey. I won't be surprised if he wins it for the 8th time. It appears that the French anti-doping agency have tested him 24 times as part of the out-of-competition testing ever since he announced his return to professional cycling this year.
What makes him my favorite cyclist is his attention to detail and dedication. I have on certain occasions applied these qualities in whatever i do and have seen success.

Now i dont even bother about backing up my hard disk. That is because all my important documents and stuffs like pics, video etc are present at google data centers in one form or the other.
Boy, am i dependent on google !!!

Another first time experience that blew my mind.

Yup, it has been a long time since i have updated my blog. The harsh winter and the academic course load played a huge role i guess. I like to blog only when there are no strings attached.
Let me start of by putting the day into context. I slept at 1:00 AM and woke up at 4:00 AM. My traveling habit is such that i pack a great part of my luggage in the morning. Left home at 5:30 AM to North Station in Boston. I was going to my pal Arjun's graduation ceremony.
I boarded a greyhound bus bound to Syracuse, New york. This is the first time i am traveling to Syracuse. Also this is the first time i am traveling in a Greyhound bus. Moreover the weather was great. So i had all the reason to be excited about my trip.
I had more surprises awaiting. The bus driver announced that there is electric charging points and also wireless internet on the bus. I had not expected this. I was really surprised. Back when i was in India, doing my bachelor's degree, i was thinking about how it would be if somebody implemented such technologies. I come here a see that they are already in use. I would like to take my hats off to whoever made it practically possible.
Communication has come a long way since the invention of telegraph. I had never thought in my life that i will be able to take pictures, blog about my travel and let the whole world know about it while i am traveling.

spare a moment of thought
There are many things we take for granted in our day-to-day life. I would want to appeal to you all to spare a moment of thought to whatever you come across daily which you think plays the most important role. It may be your car, shoe, cell phone, toothbrush or wrist watch.
Let us think that there was nothing called as a toothbrush. There was no concept of brushing your teeth. Assume that William Addis( Inventor of toothbrush - and yeah i googled it out) didn't have his moment of truth. Also assume that nobody else thought of a toothbrush (ahh!!! i think i have conveyed my point). Now imagine how people in this civilized society would be going about their day lives. Get up in the morning, have a cup of coffee, go to bathroom, get ready, have breakfast, go to work/school. Well, seems like a daily morning routine. There is something missing which nobody would even guess. At this point i am trying to imagine how i would be talking to my peers without brushing my teeth.
Today i take this moment to thank my laptop. It is currently playing the most important role in my life. It has been about an year since i bought it. It has been with me during my ups and downs. It stares at me every time i stare at it. It is always there for me when i am bored. It is a multipurpose interface which helps me in my studies, entertainment, speaking to my loved ones online. It is the second thing i think about when i begin my day. It was away for a while from me when it had to undergo a replacement surgery. Now it is back and is as good as it was before. The best part is that i am using it to write this blog.
I plan to come up with a name for it. Someday.

A wonderful thought.
I was just trying to recall the stuff that my friends kept on telling me when we were trying to waste time. You will be surprised to know what goes through people's mind when it is just left free and thoughts start to flow. I am really amazed by this wounderful unsolved mystery called mind.
On one such occasion vamsi(my buddy) said something that complete baffled me. He said and i quote "In every person's life, he is the hero" (or heroine). It didn't make a lot of sense to me then even though i thought that it was a perspective which i had never bothered to consider. But i started to give it a thought when i was on my long way back home (1 hour :o journey in the bangalore rush hour). Everyone might at most times think of him/her being the main character in this real movie and all others just play a part in the movie of life. I guess most of us would not even thought about it untill someone points it out. This is one of the glaring proofs of how self-centred a man can be. There might be many of you who will disagree on this. However to draw a line and show the distinction, i dont think that this can be called selfishness. I dare not call this selfishness. If that is the case then everyone, living or dead is a selfish person.

Ever fell sick and were happy that you fell sick.
I had throat infection and fever throughout yesterday night. Why am i happy about it? That is because i have very less work to do for the following week.
I cannot imagine falling sick when there is an important assignment that is due in the near future and i am on the bed not able to get the work done or concentrate on helping my body immune system work its magic on me. Luckily i have finished a significant part of my assignment with very few things left to do. To add to my joy, coming Tuesday is a holiday as it is the veteran's day. Good for me.
I also have a notion that if i fall sick then the probability that i will fall sick again for the next couple of months is very small. So i consider this as a blessing in disguise especially when i have my finals coming up in a month and a half and i have a major portion of my grade dependent on it.
So the next time you fall sick, just think about it. It could be a blessing or a curse.
