spare a moment of thought

There are many things we take for granted in our day-to-day life. I would want to appeal to you all to spare a moment of thought to whatever you come across daily which you think plays the most important role. It may be your car, shoe, cell phone, toothbrush or wrist watch.

Let us think that there was nothing called as a toothbrush. There was no concept of brushing your teeth. Assume that William Addis( Inventor of toothbrush - and yeah i googled it out) didn't have his moment of truth. Also assume that nobody else thought of a toothbrush (ahh!!! i think i have conveyed my point). Now imagine how people in this civilized society would be going about their day lives. Get up in the morning, have a cup of coffee, go to bathroom, get ready, have breakfast, go to work/school. Well, seems like a daily morning routine. There is something missing which nobody would even guess. At this point i am trying to imagine how i would be talking to my peers without brushing my teeth.

Today i take this moment to thank my laptop. It is currently playing the most important role in my life. It has been about an year since i bought it. It has been with me during my ups and downs. It stares at me every time i stare at it. It is always there for me when i am bored. It is a multipurpose interface which helps me in my studies, entertainment, speaking to my loved ones online. It is the second thing i think about when i begin my day. It was away for a while from me when it had to undergo a replacement surgery. Now it is back and is as good as it was before. The best part is that i am using it to write this blog.

I plan to come up with a name for it. Someday.

A wonderful thought.

I was just trying to recall the stuff that my friends kept on telling me when we were trying to waste time. You will be surprised to know what goes through people's mind when it is just left free and thoughts start to flow. I am really amazed by this wounderful unsolved mystery called mind.

On one such occasion vamsi(my buddy) said something that complete baffled me. He said and i quote "In every person's life, he is the hero" (or heroine). It didn't make a lot of sense to me then even though i thought that it was a perspective which i had never bothered to consider. But i started to give it a thought when i was on my long way back home (1 hour :o journey in the bangalore rush hour). Everyone might at most times think of him/her being the main character in this real movie and all others just play a part in the movie of life. I guess most of us would not even thought about it untill someone points it out. This is one of the glaring proofs of how self-centred a man can be. There might be many of you who will disagree on this. However to draw a line and show the distinction, i dont think that this can be called selfishness. I dare not call this selfishness. If that is the case then everyone, living or dead is a selfish person.

Ever fell sick and were happy that you fell sick.

I had throat infection and fever throughout yesterday night. Why am i happy about it? That is because i have very less work to do for the following week.

I cannot imagine falling sick when there is an important assignment that is due in the near future and i am on the bed not able to get the work done or concentrate on helping my body immune system work its magic on me. Luckily i have finished a significant part of my assignment with very few things left to do. To add to my joy, coming Tuesday is a holiday as it is the veteran's day. Good for me.

I also have a notion that if i fall sick then the probability that i will fall sick again for the next couple of months is very small. So i consider this as a blessing in disguise especially when i have my finals coming up in a month and a half and i have a major portion of my grade dependent on it.

So the next time you fall sick, just think about it. It could be a blessing or a curse.

Feeling out of place.

I realized how out dated i am on movies and songs for the past couple of months. My friend Ashwin keeps sending me new kannada songs every other day. Same is the case with Vamsi who also sends good songs to me. I listen to them once and thats it. I never find time or the urge to listen to them again. This is not because i don't like to listen to them. It is just the case of me being occupied with something else.

In the earlier days, i had the patience to download it and update my playlist. Now i just listen to it from my gmail inbox. I noticed that i have stopped using my headphone which means that i have also stopped listening to songs. Songs and movies will no more be a topic of discussion when i meet my friends in an online conference. However that won't prevent them from picking on me for this big mistake. I will however have to come up (and will come up) with something else that keeps them from pulling my leg.

feeling nostalgic

I was today thinking about my childhood days and trying to recall what i did in those days. My first memories of school, teacher, my home, my first friends (whom btw i tried to search on orkut. Thanks to orkut for the bad search results and privacy options. I couldnt find any of them :(   ). I also recalled some of my most embarassing moments as a child.

It is very difficult to express in words as to what they were. But then it flashed to me that i can use technology to show you all my very first American television series and then youtubed its name. "Street hawk". Ahh i found it. I used to watch it with my dad after dinner. It used to be aired on doordarshan. I think i must be between 6 to 8 years old when it was aired. I used to be glued to the TV often being shouted at for sitting very close to the TV. Nobody changed channels in those days as we had just 1 or 2 channels  in a middle class home.

So here goes the intro music(which i used to be humming in those days when playing with my toy car - how silly) of the television series.............

Share your oldest memories which can be youtubed so that i can get into your childhood days for a while :)

started chroming

Hi there,

Another wonder form the google stable, chrome is here. I downloaded it today and started chroming (A word that i coined for browsing through the chrome browser - I hope this word i coined catches up).

First up it seems to be very fast. Secondly it gives me a feeling that i am not using a browser cos it has a very minimal bars and other stuffs which is common with other browsers unless you try to minimize it yourself. Finally, i guess my obsession with google and its products did the trick in me switching to chrome and making it my default browser.

There are other features like incognito etc which i will leave it for you to explore and hence doing my part in *not* spoiling your surprise.

        Happy Chroming !!!!!!
